From Piston to Pour Over: Coffee Brewing Tips for Gearheads

If you’re the type who adjusts timing by ear and won’t trust anyone else with your carburetor, then you should know your coffee deserves the same hands-on treatment.

Precision Brewing = Peak Performance

You wouldn’t dump gas into a motor without knowing the mix. So don’t just eyeball your coffee either. Start with a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio — about 25 grams of coffee for 375 grams (or ml) of water.

French Press: Grind coarse, steep for 4 minutes, and plunge slowly. Pour Over: Medium grind, slow spiral pour, use a gooseneck kettle if you can. AeroPress: Medium-fine grind, 2-minute steep, firm press. Great for shop brews.

Keep It Clean, Keep It Consistent

Just like your shop tools, your gear matters. Clean your brewer often. Use filtered water. And don’t buy pre-ground unless you absolutely have to. Freshly ground beans + solid brewing = the best damn cup you’ve had all week.

At Rambler Scrambler Coffee, we build our coffee like you build your machines: With care, craftsmanship, and pride in the process.

Pick up a bag today and start dialing in your brew like a pro.

Customer Spotlight: Dave’s Daily Burnout and Brew

Some guys read the paper. Dave fires up his ’69 Rambler and makes coffee while the engine warms up. To him, that’s the sound of a perfect morning.

“Rambler Scrambler Coffee just hits different,” he told us. “I’ve tried other brands, but nothing wakes me up like this stuff. Strong but clean — just like my car.”

Coffee in the Garage

Dave’s daily grind involves wrenches, oil, and a lot of elbow grease. He keeps a thermos of Rambler Scrambler in the shop — says it keeps him focused and fueled all day.

He’s not a social media influencer. He’s not a paid reviewer. He’s just a guy who loves bold coffee and bold machines. That’s what we’re about.

We salute guys like Dave who keep America running, one tune-up and one mug at a time.
